The way this piece has been designed by Louise Wilkinson is very clever. She has used a subtle pink colour for the background, using different thicknesses of lines to create the appearance of 'water.' She has then focused your attention on the birds, and their heavily detailed and patterned bodies. She has stuck to a very limited colour pallete, using only black and white for the birds, and just the colour orange for their beaks. I like how she has finished the piece with small circular shapes around the birds to give the feeling of movement in the illustration.
Her work would look really effective on the cover of a book or perhaps even printed onto material.
